| Coach Woods coached men's indoor and outdoor track & field at Fitchburg High School, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, from 1983 to 2016, and men's cross country from 1994 to 2015. Coach Woods is a 1976 graduate of Fitchburg High School, where he lettered in soccer, indoor and outdoor track & field. Coach Woods competed three more seasons at the collegiate level at the University of Maine, Orono, graduating from that institution in 1980. Woods went on to complete his graduate work at Fitchburg State College in 1985, receiving a Master of Science in Counseling, with a concentration in secondary education. Besides his coaching duties, Woods was employed by the Fitchburg Public Schools from 1986 to 2016, and as a guidance counselor from 1989 to 2016. He retired from Guidance and Coaching at Fitchburg High School in June of 2016. |

| June 15, 2000 - Honored by the Sentinel and Enterprise as the 2000 Coach of the Year, for Northern Worcester County High School Sports.
March 5, 2001 - Honored by the Massachusetts State Track Coaches' Association, when he was selected 2000 Coach of the Year, for Spring track & field. April 15, 2013 - Honored by the Massachusetts State Track Coaches' Association, when he was selected 2012 Central MA Coach of the Year, for Spring track & field. June 3, 2017 - Honored by the Massachusetts State Track Coaches' Association, when he was inducted into the Massachusetts Coaches Hall of Fame. November 5, 2017 - Honored by the Fitchburg High School Hall of Fame Committee, when he was inducted into the Fitchburg High School Hall of Fame. |
| Coach Woods has also gained coaching certification through the National Federation State High School Associations's American Sport Education Program, Coaches Principles Course, 1998, and through the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association's Coaches Principles Course, 1998.
Woods was also certified as a USAT&F Level I Coach in all events in 1985, and became a USAT&F Level II Coach certified in the sprints, hurdles and relays in 2000.
Coach Woods is affiliated with the following track & field organizations: certified USAT&F Official and a member of USAT&F; Central Massachusetts T&F Officials Association, President & Webmaster; Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association, Webmaster; District E Track & Field Committee, Secretary; Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, Cross Country & Track Committee, Secretary. |
