2002-2003 Indoor Track & Field All-Stars Announced

April 8, 2003 - Senior Chris Brodeur was selected a Worcester Telegram & Gazette All-Star for capturing the 300 meters at the District E Division I Championships held at Fitchburg High School on February 8. Named Midland-Wachusett A League All-Stars for 2002-2003 were Adam Basilio, Andrew Bisol, Craig Fiore, Ethan Shea, and Matt Donovan for capturing first place in the mile relay, and shot put, respectively, at the Mid-Wach A League Championships. Brodeur was also selected by Mid-Wach A coaches as an at-large All-Star for his outstanding efforts in league competition throughout the season. Basilio, Bisol, Brodeur, and Pankey were also named to the Sentinel & Enterprise Winter Track 2002-2003 All-Star Team.


Red Raiders Celebrate Another Season

March 20, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men's indoor track team celebrated the conclusion of the 2002-2003 indoor season at a "Pot Luck" supper held Thursday night in the Fitchburg High School Cafeteria.

Receiving recognition for their efforts during the season were Chris Brodeur, Most Valuable Performer; Andrew Miner, Coaches’ Award; Adam Basilio, Andrew Bisol, and Everette Pankey Most Improved Runners; and Mike Carbone, Freshmen Award. These athletes, along with twenty-four others, received the right to wear the "F" by earning Varsity Letters, for their commitment, hard work, and dedication to the sport of track and field.

Coach Woods would like to personally congratulate his team, and thank their parents, along with everyone else who contributed to the team's success throughout the 2002-2003 season.

Announces "Pot Luck" Supper Date

March 5, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men's and women's indoor track & field teams will celebrate the conclusion of the indoor season at a "Pot Luck" supper scheduled for Thursday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m., in the Fitchburg High School Cafeteria.

A mailing will be sent out to athletes and parents this week providing further details on the evening which will include certificates of recognition for our athletes efforts, along with individual awards for Most Valuable Performer; Coaches’ Award; Most Improved; Freshmen Award; and the seasonal Bull Goose Loony Award (in memory of throwing Coach Jack Jerszyk). Varsity athletes will receive the right to wear the "F", for their commitment, hard work, and dedication to the sport of track & field.

Coach Woods, LeBlanc, Lavers, and Moore would like to personally congratulate the 2002-2003 teams and all others who contributed to the program’s success throughout the indoor season.


Red Raiders Finish Eighth In 1600 Meter Relay
Second Fastest Time In School History

February 28, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track and field teams turned in a top ten performance at the 16th Annual New England High School Track & Field Championships held Friday night at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center, Roxbury Community College. The meet featured the top six individual male and female athletes, along with the top six relay teams, representing the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The Red Raiders were represented by their 1600 meter relay team comprised of Chris Brodeur, Andrew Bisol, Everette Pankey, and Adam Basilio, which ran the second fastest time in school history, 3:32.76, to finish eighth.


Red Raiders Finish In Top Twenty At
Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Pentathlon

February 26, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team ran to a seventeenth place finish at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Pentathlon held Wednesday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, Roxbury Community College.

Senior Chris Brodeur led the Red Raiders finishing 37th, scoring 2,472 points in the five event competition comprised of the 55 meter hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put, and 1000 meters. Brodeur combined with fellow seniors Andrew Bisol, 51st, 2,275 points, and Adam Basilio, 62nd place, 2,113 points, for the team’s total of 6,860 points, and Fitchburg’s place in the meet.

Brodeur, Bisol, Basilio and Everette Pankey will represent Fitchburg High School in the1600 meter relay at Friday night’s New England Championships, also at the Reggie Lewis Facility, scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

Qualify for New England Championships

February 22, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s 1600 meter relay team comprised of seniors Adam Basilio, Andrew Bisol, Chris Brodeur, and junior Everette Pankey, entered their event seeded twelfth overall, ran the race of their lives out of the unseeded third heat, winning the race in a school record 3:31.26, and in the process finished a stunning sixth overall in Massachusetts.

The 1600 meter relay team will have the honor of representing Fitchburg High School in Friday night’s New England Championship Meet, also at the Reggie Lewis Center, scheduled to get underway at 5:30 p.m.

February 15, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track and field team turned in several personal records, along with one school record in the 1000 meters, at the 86th Annual State Indoor Track & Field Class B Championships held Saturday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, Roxbury Community College.

The Red Raiders were led by their 1600 meter relay team comprised of seniors Chris Brodeur, Andrew Bisol, Adam Basilio, and junior Everette Pankey, which ran a season best 3:35.81 to finish third. Pankey also broke the school record in the 1000 meter run earlier in the meet, shaving 500th of a second running off the existing mark set by Eric Newton in 1999, to finish ninth in 2:41.64. Also competing for Fitchburg were Brodeur, long jump, 19’ 4", seventh, and 300 meters, 38.06, tenth; Bisol, long jump, 18’10.75", ninth, and 300 meters, 38.98, eighteenth; and the 3200 meter relay team comprised of Basilio, Craig Fiore, Mike Carbone, and Loi Trieu, which finished seventh in 8:47.22.

The 1600 meter relay team will represent Fitchburg in next Saturday’s M.I.A.A. and Red Auerbach Youth Foundation All State Track & Field Meet scheduled to at 10:30 a.m.

Red Raiders Finish Fourth In District E, Division I Meet
Facility And School Records Fall

February 8, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team ran to a fourth place finish in the 25th Annual District E, Division I Indoor Invitational Track & Field Meet held Saturday afternoon in the Fitchburg High School field house. The meet featured several facility records in the shot put, 600 meters, and 880 yard relay, as well as one Fitchburg High School field house record in the mile relay.

The Red Raiders were led by senior Chris Brodeur, who captured the 300 meter dash in a season best 38.63. Brodeur then teamed with Adam Basilio, Andrew Bisol, and Everette Pankey in the mile relay to break the existing field house school record in that event with a time of 3:47.13 to finish second. Scoring valuable points for Fitchburg were Pankey in the mile, 4:48.99, third; Loi Trieu in the 1000 meters, 2:51.40, third; Bisol in the 300 meters, 39.93, fourth; Mike Carbone, Craig Fiore, Phil McCormack, and Trieu, in the two mile relay, 9:24.41, fifth; and John Lewis II in the shot put with a personal record of 41’11.25".

Also representing Fitchburg in the meet were Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 40’ 9.75"; Brodeur, high jump, 5’ 6"; Kevin Carriere, high jump, 5’ 6"; Carbone, two mile, 11:24.06; Ethan Shea, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.12; William Schuerman, 55 meter dash, 7.73; and the 880 yard relay team comprised of Shea, Chris Kanclerowicz, Schuerman, and Carriere, 1:49.56.

The Red Raiders now focus their efforts on preparing for next Saturday’s MIAA 86th Annual Indoor State Class B Track & Field Meet, to held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, Roxbury Community College, scheduled to get under way at 1:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Run Well At Invitational

February 1, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men's indoor track and field team turned in several personal and season best performances at the 41st Annual Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Invitational Track & Field Meet held Saturday morning at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center, Roxbury Community College.

Fitchburg was led by it’s 3200 meter relay team comprised of Loi Trieu, Mike Carbone, Adam Basilio, and Everette Pankey, which finished eighth overall with a season best 8:37.76. Pankey was the Red Raiders top individual performer finishing thirteenth in the 1000 meters in 2:43.34. Andrew Bisol had a strong day with two p.r.’s (personal records) in the long jump, 19’ 1.75", and the 300 meters, 38.89. Trieu and Basilio also turned in individual p.r.’s in their respective events, the 1000 meters, 2:47.86, and the 600 meters, 1:28.32. These performances, along with previous marks by Brodeur, and the 1600 meter relay team, qualify for the M.I.A.A. State Class B Championships to be held on Saturday, February 15th, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Also representing the Red Raiders in the meet were Chris Brodeur, 300 meters, 39.35, and long jump, 18’11.75"; Ethan Shea, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.14; Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 42’ 1"; the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Craig Fiore, Nathan Shea, Phil McCormack, and Ethan Shea, 3:53.90. The 800 meter relay team comprised of Brodeur, Shawn McGrady, Kevin Carriere, and Bisol, also competed in the meet, but were disqualified for passing out of the zone.

The Red Raiders host this weekend's District E Track & Field Championships with the Division I meet getting underway Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Field House.


Red Raiders Perform Well At McIntyre Memorial Elite Relays
Shot Put Team Eclipses Thirteen Year Old Record

January 26, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team turned in a number of top performances in the Bob McIntyre Memorial Elite New England Relays held Sunday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury Community College.

Leading the way was the record shattering performance of the shot put relay team comprised of Matt Donovan, Greg Rodriguez, and John Lewis II, who combined for a distance of 126’ 7.75" to finish seventh overall, while breaking the existing thirteen year old school record by 3.75". Also representing the Red Raiders was the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Chris Brodeur, Adam Basilio, Shawn McGrady, and Andrew Bisol, which finished in 3:37.22 to place tenth; the long jump team comprised of Bisol, Brodeur, and Kevin Carriere, which combined for a distance of 55’ 8.5" to place fourteenth; and the 3200 meter relay team comprised of Loi Trieu, Mike Carbone, Basilio, and Everette Pankey, which finished in 8:43.16 to place fourteenth.

Fitchburg returns to the Reggie Lewis Center this Saturday morning to compete in the 41st annual Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Invitational track & field meet scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.


Red Raiders Clinch 2nd Overall
In Mid-Wach A Championships

January 25, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team clinched second place overall in Mid-Wach A by finishing second to Wachusett Regional at the Mid-Wach A Championships held Saturday afternoon in the Field House. The final score of the meet was Wachusett, 114, Fitchburg, 97, Shrewsbury, 68, Algonquin, 32, Milford, 30, Leominster, 18, and North Middlesex, 13.

The Red Raiders were led by the first place performances of Matt Donovan in the shot put, 43’ 1", and the mile relay team comprised of Adam Basilio, Ethan Shea, Craig Fiore, and Andrew Bisol, which finished in 3:54.76. Chris Brodeur and Everette Pankey were the other big point scorers for the Red Raiders, with Brodeur finishing second in the 55 meter dash, 7.06, second in the 300 meters, 39.14, and third in the high jump at 5’ 8", while Pankey was runner-up in the 1000 meters, 2:48.03, and third in the mile, 4:53.77. Placing in the top six, and scoring valuable points for Fitchburg were Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 42’ 4.25", second; Adam Basilio, 600 meters, 1:31.00, third; Shawn McGrady, Chris Kanclerowicz, Will Schuerman, and Kevin Carriere, 880 relay, 1:49.03, third; Mike Carbone, Phil McCormack, Justin Kemp, and Loi Trieu, 2 mile relay, 9:22.67, third; Trieu, 1000 meters, 2:49.08, fourth; Bisol, 300 meters, 39.97, fourth; John Lewis II, shot put, 41’ 5.75", fifth; Carriere, high jump, 5’ 4", fifth; and Carbone, 2 mile, 11:05.99, sixth.

Also competing in the meet were Kanclerowicz, high jump, 5’; Ethan Shea, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.30; Donovan, 55 meter dash, 7.39; Schuerman, 55 meter dash, 7.75; Nathan Shea, 600 meters, 1:39.84; Fiore, 600 meters, 1:36.02; and McGrady, 300 meters, 41.51.

Fitchburg High School will compete at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning in the Bob McIntyre Memorial New England Relays at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, and then return to the Reggie Lewis Center next Saturday morning to compete in the 26th Annual Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Invitational Track & Field Meet with that meet scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.


Red Raiders Finish Tenth In State Class B Relays
Long Jump Team Shatters School Record

January 18, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team ran to a tenth place finish in the 26th Massachusetts State Coaches Class B Indoor Relay Championships held Saturday morning at the Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury Community College.

The Red Raiders placed in four events in the meet led by the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Chris Brodeur, Adam Basilio, Andrew Bisol and Everette Pankey, which ran a season best 3:36.69, to finish third. The 3200 meter relay team comprised of Loi Trieu, Basilio, Mike Carbone, and Pankey finished fourth in a season best 8:43.86, while the long jump team comprised of Bisol, Brodeur, and Kevin Carriere shattered the school record in that event, increasing the mark by almost three feet, to finish fifth with a combined distance of 56’ 9.25". Completing the scoring for Fitchburg was the shot put team comprised of Greg Rodriguez, Matt Donovan, and John Lewis II, which finished sixth with a combined distance of 117’ 1.5". These four relay teams will represent Fitchburg High School as one of the top twenty-four teams in Massachusetts at the Bob McIntyre Relays next Sunday morning at the Reggie Lewis Center with the meet getting underway at 11:00 a.m.

Also competing for the Red Raiders in Saturday's meet was the 800 meter relay team comprised of Shawn McGrady, Brodeur, William Schuerman, and Bisol, 1:40.34, twelfth, season best; the shuttle dash team comprised of Donovan, Adam Dufour, Schuerman, and Carriere, 25.13, twenty-first; the distance medley team comprised of Carbone, Nathan Shea, Justin Kemp, and Trieu, 11:59.33, nineteenth; and the sprint medley team comprised of Craig Fiore, Chris Kanclerowicz, Carriere, and Phil McCormack, 4:13.51, twenty-second.

Running as "B" Teams for the Red Raiders were McGrady, Ethan Shea, McCormack and Fiore, 1600 meter relay, 3:51.35, fifteenth; Mike Alamed, Dan Kirouac, Andrew Carreiro, and Kris Maillet, 3200 meter relay, 10:43.2, sixteenth; Dave Cosenza, Matt Mello, Dan Hawkins, and Jim Tata, shuttle dash, 27.51, thirty-fifth; Mello, Kaheim Shavies, Cosenza, and Pat Alamed, 800 meter relay, 1:53.32, twenty-eighth; and Andrew Miner, Jeff Machado, Jeremy Durrin, and Mike Gagne, sprint medley, 5:04.32, thirty-first.

The Red Raiders host the Mid-Wach A Championships next Saturday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m. in the Field House.


Red Raiders Finish Third At State Team Pentathlon
F.H.S. Team and Individual Records Broken

January 11, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team ran to a third place finish at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Team Pentathlon held Saturday morning at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Facility, Roxbury Community College. The Red Raiders shattered the previous Fitchburg High School team record for this meet set in 2001 by combining for 3,071 points to earn the bronze in the team competition behind eastern Massachusetts powers Newton North, 3,644 points, and Xaverian, 3,336 points.

Representing Fitchburg High School in the unique five event meet were senior tri-captains Andrew Bisol, long jump, 18’ 7"; Adam Basilio, 55 meter high hurdles, 8.92; Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 41’ 2"; senior Chris Brodeur, high jump, 5’ 4"; and junior Everette Pankey, 1000 meters, 2:42.74. The performances of Bisol, Rodriguez, and Pankey broke individual pentathlon records in their respective events, which were also set in 2001.

The Red Raiders return to the Reggie Lewis Center this Saturday morning to compete in the 26th M.S.T.C.A. Indoor Class B Relay Championships with that meet scheduled to get underway promptly at 9:30 a.m.


Despite Numerous Personal Records
Red Raiders Defeated By St. John’s

January 5, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team completed their season at 5-2 Wednesday night, losing a hard fought dual meet to a talented St. John’s (Shrewsbury) team, 50-36, in the Field House.

The Red Raiders managed only two first place performances in the meet as Ethan Shea captured the 55 meter high hurdles in 8.7, while Chris Brodeur turned in a personal record (P.R.) in the 300 meters to finish first in 38.4. Finishing second for Fitchburg were Matt Donovan, shot put, 40’ 8.25"; Adam Basilio, 55 meter high hurdles, 8.8, and 600 meters, 1:30.8 (P.R.); Brodeur, high jump, 5’ 8"; Andrew Bisol and Shawn McGrady (P.R.), tie, 300 meters, 40.2; and Everette Pankey, 1000 meters, 2:48.6 (P.R.). Completing the scoring with third place performances were Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 40' 2.5"; Pankey, two mile, 10:48.1; Loi Trieu, mile, 5:03.5; and Kevin Carriere, high jump, 5’ 6" (P.R.).

Fitchburg will travel to the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center this Saturday morning to compete in the 5th Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Team Pentathlon scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. Representing the Red Raiders in the unique five event meet will be senior tri-captains Andrew Bisol (long jump), Adam Basilio (55 meter high hurdles), Greg Rodriguez (shot put), senior Chris Brodeur (high jump), and junior Everette Pankey (1000 meters).


Red Raiders Earn Split
Defeat Colonials, But Fall To Mountaineers

January 5, 2003 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team earned a split in their double-dual meet Sunday afternoon at Shrewsbury High School, defeating the Shrewsbury Colonials, 53-33, but falling to the Wachusett Regional Mountaineers, 52-34.

Against Shrewsbury Everette Pankey and Chris Brodeur won two events each, as Pankey captured the mile, 4:53.8, and the 1000 meters in 2:49.8; while Brodeur finished first in the 55 meter dash in 6.8, and won the high jump with a personal best, 5’ 8". Brodeur also teamed with Shawn McGrady, Adam Basilio, and Andrew Bisol, to capture the mile relay in 3:52.7. Other first place performances were turned in by Matt Donovan, shot put, 41’10.75"; Basilio, 600 meters, 1:32.3; and Bisol, 300 meters, 40.0. Finishing second for Fitchburg were Ethan Shea, 55 meter high hurdles, 8.7; Daeshawn Perkins, 55 meter dash, 7.1; and Loi Trieu, 1000 meters, 2:54.3. Completing the scoring with third place finishes were Mike Carbone, two mile, 11:01.1; Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 40' 6.75"; Craig Fiore, 600 meters, 1:35.9; and McGrady, 300 meters, 40.8.

Versus Wachusett the Red Raiders had first place performances from Brodeur in the high jump; Donovan, shot put; Shea, 55 meter high hurdles; and the mile relay team comprised of Brodeur, McGrady, Basilio, and Bisol. Second places went to Rodriguez, shot put; Basilio, 600 meters; and Brodeur, 55 meter dash. Third place finishes went to Mike Carbone, two mile; John Lewis II, shot put, 40' 5.25"; Pankey, mile, and 1000 meters; and Bisol, 300 meters.

The Red Raiders host St. John’s (Shrewsbury) Wednesday night with the meet scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m.

December 28, 2002 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team turned in a number of season best performances Saturday morning in a dual meet scrimmage versus the Blue Knights of Lunenburg.

The Red Raiders’ top performances by event were: shot put, Matt Donovan, 40’ 4"; 55 meter high hurdles, Ethan Shea, 8.7; 55 meter dash and high jump, Chris Brodeur, 6.9, and 5’ 6"; mile, Everette Pankey, 4:52.0; 600 meters, Adam Basilio, 1:33.5; 300 meters, Kevin Carriere, 43.7; 1000 meters, Mike Carbone, 3:05.1; and mile relay, Pankey, Loi Trieu, Basilio, and Andrew Bisol, 3:52.2. Also peforming well for Fitchburg were Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 39’10"; Bisol, 600 meters, 1:34.8; Adam Dufour, shot put, 37’ 2"; Donovan, 55 meter dash, 7.0; Trieu, mile, 5:04.0; and Craig Fiore, 600 meters, 1:39.4.

The Red Raiders travel to Shrewsbury Saturday morning for a double-dual meet versus Shrewsbury and Wachusett Regional with the meet scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.


Red Raiders Defeat Milford and Algonquin
Improve To 4-0 In Mid-Wach A

December 21, 2002 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team improved to 4-0, defeating Mid-Wach A opponents, the Milford Scarlet Hawks, 63-23, and the Algonquin Regional Tomahawks, 59-27, Saturday morning in the Field House.

Against Milford Everette Pankey and Chris Brodeur scored in multiple events, as Pankey captured both the mile, 4:56.9, and the 1000 meters in 2:49.6; while Brodeur finished first in the 55 meter dash in 6.7, tied for first with teammate Andrew Bisol in the 300 meters in 39.9, and finished second in the high jump with a leap of 5' 4". Matt Donovan and Adam Basilio also helped the cause, as Donovan finished first in the shot put, 41' 1.5", and second in the 55 meter dash in 6.9; while Basilio captured the 600 in 1:32.0, and was second second in the 55 meter high hurdles, 9.1. Fitchburg's other first place finish went to the mile relay team comprised of Kevin Carriere, Chris Kanclerowicz, Phil McCormack, and Bisol, 4:03.3. Finishing second for Fitchburg were Loi Trieu, two mile, 11:15.9, and 1000 meters, 2:56.1; and Nathan Shea, 600 meters, 1:37.5. Completing the scoring with third place finishes were Mike Carbone, two mile, 11:44.3; Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 40' 6.25"; Ethan Shea, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.2; Justin Kemp, mile, 5:26; Craig Fiore, 600 meters, 1:39.0; Carriere, high jump, 5' 4"; and Shawn McGrady, 300 meters, 40.9.

Versus Algonquin the Red Raiders were once again led Pankey, who captured the mile and 1000 meters; and Brodeur, who finished first in the 55 meter dash, and tied for first with teammate Andrew Bisol in the 300 meters. Individual wins went to Trieu, two mile; Basilio, 600 meters; Donovan, shot put; and the mile relay team comprised of Carriere, Kanclerowicz, Phil McCormack, and Bisol. Second places went to Rodriguez, shot put; Shea, 600 meters; and Trieu, 1000 meters. Third place finishes went to Steve Marrella, shot put, 39'10"; Basilio, 55 meter high hurdles; Kemp, mile; Donovan, 55 meter dash; Fiore, 600 meters; Brodeur, high jump; and Carbone, 1000 meters, 3:30.6.

The Red Raiders host Lunenburg in a scrimmage dual meet next Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Field House.


Red Raiders Sweep Season Opener
Blue Devils and Patriots Overwhelmed

December 14, 2002 - The Fitchburg High School men’s indoor track team opened it’s season in fine fashion, sweeping a double-dual meet over Mid-Wach A opponents, the Leominster Blue Devils, 70-16, and the North Middlesex Patriots, 77-9, Saturday morning in the Field House.

Against Leominster Ryan Logan and Everette Pankey captured multiple events, as Logan won the 55 meter dash in 6.8, the shot put with a throw of 43’ 4.5", and the high jump with a leap of 5’10"; while Pankey ran to victories in the two mile, 11:01.9, and 1000 meters, 2:53.5. Individual wins went to Andrew Bisol, 300 meters, 40.5; Adam Basilio, 600 meters, 1:34.1; and the mile relay team comprised of Mike Carbone, Chris Kanclerowicz, Ethan Shea, and Kevin Carriere, 4:06.1. Finishing second for Fitchburg were Carbone, two mile, 11:20.7; Steve Marrella, shot put, 39’ 4.75"; Chris Brodeur, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.3; Matt Donovan, 55 meter dash, 7.2; Shawn McGrady, 300 meters, 40.8; Loi Trieu, mile, 5:06.9, and 1000 meters, 3:07.5. Completing the scoring with third place finishes were Greg Rodriguez, shot put, 38’ 8"; Basilio, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.4; Brodeur, high jump, 5’ 4"; Justin Kemp, mile, 5:22.3, and 1000 meters, 3:09.9; and Craig Fiore, 600 meters, 1:39.1.

Versus North Middlesex the Red Raiders captured all ten events, and were once again led by Logan, who captured the 55 meter dash, shot put, and high jump; and Pankey, who captured the two mile and 1000 meters. Individual wins went to Brodeur, 55 meter high hurdles; Bisol, 300 meters; Trieu, mile; Basilio, 600 meters; and the mile relay team comprised of Carbone, Kanclerowicz, Shea, and Carriere. Second place finishes went to Marrella, shot put; Basilio, 55 meter high hurdles; Donovan, 55 meter dash; Brodeur, high jump; McGrady, 300 meters; Kemp, mile; and Trieu, 1000 meters. Third place finishes went to Carbone, two mile; Rodriguez, shot put; Ethan Shea, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.5; Kanclerowicz, high jump, 5’; Shea, 600 meters; and Kemp, 1000 meters.

The Red Raiders host Milford and Algonquin Regional in a double-dual meet next Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Field House.


Red Raiders Perform Well
At John Wallace Invitational

December 7, 2002 - The Fitchburg High School men's indoor track & field team turned in a number of fine performances Saturday afternoon at the John Wallace Invitational Developmental Track & Field Meet hosted by Shrewsbury High School. There were no individual winners, team scores, or relays in the meet, which offered a two divisional format comprised of a Freshmen/Sophomore Division and a Junior/Senior Division.

Turning in team top performances for the Red Raiders by event were: shot put, Greg Rodriguez, 39’ 2.5"; high jump, Chris Kanclerowicz, 4’ 8"; 55 meter high hurdles, Ethan Shea, 9.5; 55 meter dash, Matt Mello, 7.1; 300 meter dash, Shawn McGrady and Chris Brodeur, 40.6; 600 meter run, Nathan Shea, 1:40.3; 1000 meter run, Loi Trieu, 2:59.2; mile run, Mike Carbone, 5:22.5; and 2 mile run, Everette Pankey, 11:48.8. In the Freshmen/Sophmore Division additional quality performances were turned in by sophomores Anthony Murray, shot put, 36’ 2.5"; Craig Fiore, 600 meters, 1:42.1; Phil McCormack, 600 meters, 1:46.0; Jason Cote, 300 meters, 46.0; and Pat Alamed, 600 meters, 1:57.3. Performing well for the freshmen were Kris Maillet, 1000 meters, 3:48.9; Mike Alamed, 1000 meters, 3:28.0; William Schuerman, 300 meters, 45.7; Matt Sullivan, 55 meter dash, 8.6; and Jeremy Durrin, 55 meter dash, 8.8.

Fitchburg hosts Leominster and North Middlesex next Saturday morning in a double-dual meet scheduled to get underway at 9:00 a.m.
