Higgins, Bourque, And 800 Relay Complete The Indoor Season

February 20, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team completed the 2015-2016 Indoor Track & Field Season at the MIAA All-State Meet held Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury.

Representing the Red Raiders were seniors Joshua Higgins and Michael Bourque in the 600 meters, and shot put, respectfully. Higgins ran to a ninth place finish in the 600 with a time of 1:23.35, while Bourque was twenty-third in the shot put with a throw of 44' 2.5". Higgins then combined with sophomores Kobe Saddler, Elizia Ashmore, and Angel Figueroa to finish thirteenth in the 800 relay with a season best 1:33.95.


Red Raiders Finish Ninth At MIAA Division III Meet
Higgins Earns Gold, And Breaks School Record Again!

February 11, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team finished ninth at the MIAA Division III Championship Meet held Thursday night at the Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury.

Leading the way once again was Joshua Higgins, who captured the 600 meters in a school record 1:22.54. Higgins then combined with Kobe Saddler, Elizia Ashmore, and Angel Figueroa to finish third in the 800 relay with a season best 1:34.26. Both Higgins and the 800 relay team are automatic qualifiers for the All-State Meet. Also scoring in the meet for Fitchburg were: Figueroa, 300 meters, fifth, season best, 37.03; and Michael Bourque, shot put, sixth, 46' 6". Also representing Fitchburg in the meet was Antonio Williams, who finished twelfth in the shot put with a throw of 42' 5".

The Red Raiders travel back to the Reggie Lewis Center next Saturday morning to compete in the M.I.A.A. All-State Championship Meet scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Red Raiders Finish Fifth In District E Division I Championship Meet
Higgins And 880 Relay Team Break FHS Facility Records

February 6, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team finished fifth in the District E Division I Championship Meet held Saturday afternoon at the Doug Gructhfield Field House.

Fitchburg was led by Joshua Higgins, who captured the 600 meters, and in the process lowered his Fitchburg High School Facility Record to 1:26.46. Higgins then combined with Kobe Saddler, Elizia Ashmore, and Angel Figueroa to finish third in the 880 relay with a time 1:42.69, breaking the team record set in 2008. Also scoring in the meet for Fitchburg were: Figueroa, 300 meters, second, 38.11; Michael Bourque, shot put, fourth, 46' 6"; and Antonio Williams, shot put, sixth, 43' 2". Also representing the Red Raiders were: Ben Phaneuf, 1000 meters, eighth, 2:56.58; the two mile relay team comprised of Dohnavan LeBlanc, Augustin Sanchez, Anthony Ortwein, and Ariel Sandoval, tenth, 10:29.78; the mile relay team comprised of Phaneuf, Connor St. Germain, Ortwein, and Charlie Jackson, twelfth, 4:12.39; Saddler, 55 meter dash, thirteenth, 7.16; and Ashmore, 55 meter dash, sixteenth, 7.22.

The Red Raiders travel to the Reggie Lewis Center Thursday afternoon to compete in the M.I.A.A. Division III Championship Meet scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Finish Fourth In Mid-Wach A Meet
Higgins And Figueroa Break FHS Facility Records

January 31, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team finished fourth in the Mid-Wach A Championship Meet held Saturday afternoon at the Doug Gructhfield Field House.

Fitchburg was led by Joshua Higgins and Angel Figueroa, who captured the 600 meters, and 300 meters, respectively, with Fitchburg High School Facility Records. Higgins broke the 600 meter record held by Adam Renquinha set in 2001, winning in 1:26.48, while Figueroa's time of 37.40, broke his own facility record set Thursday night versus Leominster. Michael Bourque also picked up a first place finish for the Red Raiders, winning the shot put with a throw of 44' 9.25". Higgins, Figueroa, and Bourque earned Mid-Wach A All-Star status for their efforts. Also scoring in the meet for Fitchburg were: Antonio Williams, shot put, third, 41' 6.25"; Enrico Colon, shot put, fourth, 38' 3.25"; Charlie Jackson, fourth, high jump, 5' 6"; the 880 relay team comprised of Williams, Kobe Saddler, Elizia Ashmore, and Figueroa, fifth, 1:43.71; the mile relay team comprised of Ben Phaneuf, Connor St. Germain, Jackson, and Higgins, fifth, 4:02.51; and the two mile relay team comprised of Augustin Sanchez, Anthony Ortwein, Noah Giordano, and Ariel Sandoval, sixth, 10:23.8.

The Red Raiders host the District E Division I Championship Meet Saturday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m.


Red Raiders Defeat Arch-Rival Leominster
Figueroa Breaks FHS Facility Record

January 28, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team defeated arch-rival Leominster, 47 to 44, Thursday Night in the Doug Gructhfield Field House.

Angel Figueroa and Joshua Higgins were key contributors in the meet. Figueroa captured the 300 meters with a Fitchburg High School Facility Rewcord in the 300 with a time of 37.7, and then an anchored the 880 relay comprised of Antonio Williams, Kobe Saddler, and Elizia Ashmore, to clinch the meet with a time 1:43.5. Higgins captured two events, the 600 meters in 1:34.10, and the 1000 meters in 3:01.4 to score valuable points. Also contributing to the meet by finsihing first were Michael Bourque, shot put, 44' 2"; Ben Phaneuf, mile, 5:19.5; and Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 6". Finishing second for Fitchburg were: Williams, shot put, 44' 1"; Sage Bray, 55 meter high hurdles, 9.6; and Phaneuf, 1000, 3:02.2. ompleting the scoring by finishing third were: Enrico Colon, shot put, 39' 10"; Dohnavan LeBlanc, two mile, 12:05.3; and Saddler, 55 meter dash, 6.9.

The Red Raiders host the Mid-Wach A Championship Meet Saturday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.

Higgins Breaks School Record In The 600 Meters Again

January 24, 2016 - Josh Higgins broke his own school record in the 600 meters, lowering his previous mark of 1:24.65 to 1:23.03 Sunday morning at the Elite Meet to finish fifth overall. Michael Bourque also represented the Red Raiders in the meet, finishing nineteenth in the shot put with a throw of 43' 11.75".

The Red Raiders host arch-rival Leominster Thursday night with that meet scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Compete At 53rd Annual Coaches Invitational
Williams Finishes Sixth In The Shot Put

January 23, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team turned in several fine performances at the 53rd Annual Coaches Invitational held Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury.

Fitchburg was led by A.J. Williams, who threw the shot put 43' 11.25", to finish sixth overall. Also representing Fitchburg in the meet were: Angel Figueroa, 300 meters, tenth, 37.55; Kobe Saddler, 55 meter dash, fifty-first, 7.05; and Elizia Ashmore, 55 meter dash, one-hundredth, 7.23.

The Red Raiders will travel back to the Reggie Lewis Center tomorrow morning to compete Elite Meet scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Wachusett Regional Defeats Fitchburg

January 20, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team was defeated by Wachusett Regional, 64 to 27, Wednesday night at Wachusett Regional.

Fitchburg captured four events in the meet: Josh Higgins, 600 meters, 1:28.6; Michael Bourque, shot put, 45' .5"; Angel Figueroa, 300 meters, 39.0; and Ben Phaneuf, 1000 meters, 2:55.2. Finishing second for Fitchburg was Charlie Jackson in the high jump with a leap of 5' 6", and Antonio Williams in the shot put, 41' 6.5". Enrico Colon completed the scoring by finishing third in the shot put with a throw of 37' 9".

The Red Raiders will travel to the Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury, next Saturday and Sunday mornings, to compete in the Coaches Invitational and Elite Meets, respectively. Both meets are scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Red Raiders Finish Eighth At Division III Relays
Sprint Medley Team Breaks School Record

January 17, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team competed to a eighth place finish at the 48th Annual State Division III Relays held Sunday morning at the Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury.

Fitchburg was led by the shot put relay team comprised of Mike Bourque, Antonio Williams, and Enrico Colon, who combined for 123' 11" to finish second in the event. The sprint medley team comprised of Joshua Higgins, Angel Figueroa, Hanoch Boddie, and Ben Phaneuf, broke the shool record in the event with a time of 3:44.92 to finish third. Finishing sixth, was the 800 meter relay team comprised of Antonio Williams, Kobe Saddler, Charlie Jackson, and Figueroa, which ran a season best, 1:37.34. Also representing Fitchburg in the meet was the shuttle dash team comprised of Williams, Angel Santiago, Boddie, and Saddler, eleventh, 23.97; and the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Phaneuf, Connor St. Germaine, Jackson, and Higgins, which finished sixteenth in 3:48.76.

The Red Raiders travel to Wachusett Regional Wednesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.


Shepherd Hill Holds Off Fitchburg

January 13, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team came up three points shy of a victory, losing to Shepherd Hill Regional, 47 to 44, Wednesday night in the Doug Grutchfield Field House.

Fitchburg was led by Josh Higgins, who captured two events, the two mile 10:47.0, and 600 meters, 1:32.5. Other first place performances were turned in by Michael Bourque, shot put, 47' 1"; Angel Figueroa, 300 meters, 39.8; Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 6"; and the 880 relay comprised of Eliziah Ashmore, Kobe Saddler, Jackson, and Figueroa, 1:45.9. Finishing second for Fitchburg were: Ben Phaneuf, 1000 meters, 3:06.0; Antonio Williams, shot put, 44' 7"; Sage Bray, 55 meter high hurdles, 10.4; and Saddler, 55 meter dash, 7.0. Completing the scoring by finishing third were: Ashmore, 55 meter dash, 7.1; and Phaneuf, mile, 5:14.6.

The Red Raiders will travel to the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury Sunday morning to compete in the State Division III Relays scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Algonquin Regional Edges Out Fitchburg

January 6, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team was edged out in their second dual meet of the season by Algonquin Regional, 48 to 43, Wednesday night in the Doug Grutchfield Field House.

Fitchburg was led by Kobe Saddler and Angel Figueroa, who captured the 55 meter dash, 7.0, and 300 meters, 38.9, respectively. Both athletes then teamed with Eliziah Ashmore and Charlie Jackson, to win the 880 relay in 1:46.1. Other first place performances were turned in by Michael Bourque, shot put, 45' 8"; and the mile relay team comprised of Ben Phaneuf, Ethan Aubuchon, Connor St. Germain, and Josh Higgins, 4:06.7. Finishing second for Fitchburg were: Antonio Williams, shot put, 41' 11"; Jackson, high jump, 5' 8"; Phaneuf, mile, 5:26.0; Aubuchon, 600 meters, 1:42.8; and Higgins, 1000 meters, 2:51.8. Completing the scoring by finishing third were: Enrico Colon, shot put, 36' 7.5"; Dohnavan LeBlanc, two mile, 12:15.8; and Williams, 55 meter dash, 7.2.

The Red Raiders host Shepherd Hill Regional next Wednesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m.


Red Raiders Shine At Auerbach Freshman-Sophomore Meet
800 Meter Relay Team Sets Meet Record

January 3, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' freshman-sophomore indoor track & field team turned in numerous top performances at the Auerbach Freshman-Sophomore Championship Track Meet held Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury.

Fitchburg was led by Angel Figueroa, who finished first in the 300 in 37.39, and then teamed Elizia Ashmore, Kobe Saddler, and Charlie Jackson to set a meet record in the 800 meter relay winning the event in 1:38.61. Other top eight performances included: Jackson, high jump, second, 5' 9"; Enrico Colon, shot put, fourth, 36' 11.25"; Saddler, 55 meter dash, fourth, 7.03; and Ashmore, 55 meter dash, sixth, 7.08. Also representing Fitchburg in the meet were: Ethan Aubuchon, 600 meters, twenty-seventh, 1:37.73; Kyle Koutonen, shot put, thirtieth, 30' 9.25"; Sage Bray, 55 meter high hurdles, thirty-fifth, 11.24; Ariel Sandoval, 1000 meters, fifty-third, 3:23.90; and Dohnavan LeBlanc, mile, sixty-third, 5:35.66.

The Red Raiders host Algonquin Regional this Wednesday night with that meet scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m.


Red Raiders Turn In Several Top Performances At Winter Festival

December 19, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team turned in several top performances at the Winter Festival held Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury.

Fitchburg was led by Joshua Higgins, who finished second in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:25.34. Also placing in the top eight were: Michael Bourque, shot put, third, 43' 4.25"; Angel Figueroa, 300 meter dash, fifth, 37.44; and the 800 meter relay team comprised of Stephane Kamayou, Kobe Saddler, Elizia Ashmore, and Figueroa, eighth, 1:39.08. Also representing Fitchburg in the meet by event were: 55 meter dash - Saddler, fourteenth, 7:00; Ashmore, thirty-first, 7.20; and Antonio Williams, fifty-first, 7.39. 300 Meters - Kamayou, forty-seventh, 41.00. Mile - Ben Phaneuf, forty-second, 5:04.93. High Jump - Charlie Jackson, fifteenth, 5' 4". Long Jump - Figueroa, forty-second, 15' 8.25. Shot Put - Williams, twenty-first, 38' ,5"; Eric Degroselliers, twenty-eighth; and Enrico Colon, thirty-sixth, 35' 2.5".

The Red Raiders return to the Reggie Lewis Center on Sunday, January 3rd, to compete in the Auerbach Fr-So Meet scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Shrewsbury Defeats Red Raiders In Opening Meet

December 12, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team opened their season with a loss to the Colonials of Shrewsbury, 65 to 26, Saturday morning at Shrewsbury High School.

Fitchburg was led by the performances of Charlie Jackson, who captured the high jump with a leap of 5' 7", while Josh Higgins won the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:30.4. Jackson and Higgins then combined with Ben Phaneuf and Jared Morcaldi to win the mile relay in 4:03.5. Also finishing first was Angel Figueroa, who won the 300 meters in 38.9. Finishing second for Fitchburg was Antonio Wiiliams in the shot put, throwing 39' 3.5", while third place performances were turned in by Morcaldi in the two mile, 11:14.6; Sage Bray, high jump, 4' 8"; and Enrico Colon, shot put, 38' 11.75".

The Red Raiders will travel to the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury next Saturday morning to compete in the Winter Festival scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.
