Ramirez Named To The 2014 T&G Super Team Spring All-Stars

June 16, 2014 - Congratulations are extended junior Leonardo Ramirez, who has been named to the Telegram & Gazette Super Team All-Stars for the 2014 spring season.


Ramirez Finishes Sixth At The New England Meet

June 14, 2014 - Junior Leonardo Ramirez threw the shot 52' 10.5" at the 69th Annual New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track & Field Championship held Saturday morning at Bridgewater State University. Ramirez's throw earned him sixth place overall, and completed the 2014 Outdoor Track season for the Red Raiders.


Bourque Finishes Ninth For The Red Raiders At The Central Massachusetts Weight Pentathlon

June 9, 2014 - Sophomore Michael Bourque competed to a ninth place finish at the at the 4th Annual Central Massachusetts District E Weight Pentathlon, held Monday afternoon at Lunenburg High School. Bourque combined for 1,929 points, competing in the 100 meter dash, 14.11, 297 points; shot put, 38' 11.75, 599 points; discus, 104' 2", 499 points; javelin, 85' 1", 243 points; and 200 meters, 29.32, 291 points; which when totaled, accounted for his place in the meet.


Red Raiders Finish Sixtieth At The MIAA All-State Meet

June 7, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to a sixtieth place finish at the MIAA All-State Meet held Saturday afternoon at Bridgewater State University.

The Red Raiders were led by Leo Ramirez, who finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 52' 9", while Drew DiGeronimo finished tenth in the javelin with a throw of 160' 11".

Ramirez will represent Fitchburg High School at the New England Championships next Saturday morning, also at Bridgewater State University, with that meet scheduled to get underway at 10:00 a.m.


Red Raiders Finish Twelfth At The MIAA Central/West Division I State Qualifier

May 31, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to a twelfth place finish at the MIAA Central/West Division I State Qualifier held Saturday at Westfield State University.

The Red Raiders were led by Leo Ramirez, who finished first in the shot put with a season best 53' 9.75". Drew DiGeronimo and Marcus Diaz also placed in the top six, as DiGeronimo was second in the javelin, 171', while Diaz was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 150' 9".

Also representing the Red Raiders were: Michael Bourque, shot put, ninth, 40' 2.5", and discus, forteenth, 108' 6"; Josh Higgins, 800 meters, twelfth, 2:06.23; Jason Bugarin, two mile, thirteenth, 10:09.39; Jose Marrero, discus, fifteenth, 104', and shot put, seventeenth, 38' 7.25"; and Greg Santiago, 100 meters, twenty-fourth, 12.16.

Ramirez and DiGeronimo will represent Fitchburg High School in the All-State Meet at Bridgewater State University next Saturday afternoon scheduled to get underway at 1:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Finish 5th In Mid-Wach A Championship

May 24, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to a fifth place finish at the Mid-Wach A League Championship meet held Saturday morning at Shrewsbury High School.

Fitchburg was led by Drew DiGeronimo, who finished first in the javelin, 161' 9", second in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:01.35; and teamed with Jason Bugarin, Hanoch Boddie, and Joshua Higgins, to finish fifth in 3:47.26. Also finishing first were Leonardo Ramirez in the shot put, 52' 4.5", and Jose Marrero in the discus, 120' 11". DiGeronimo, Ramirez, and Marrero will be named Mid-Wach A League All-Stars for their first place performances in the meet.

Also finishing in the top six for the Red Raiders were: Michael Bourque, discus, second, 120' 5", and shot put, fourth, 41' 8"; Bugarin in the two mile, fourth, 10:04.73; the 400 meter relay team comprised of Marcos Diaz, Boddie, Alex Romero, and Greg Santiago, fifth, 49.30; the 3200 meter relay team comprised of Connor Dufour, Noah Giordano, Carlos Rodriguez-Baez, and Viosnody Presinal, Jr., sixth, 10:16.64; Marrero, shot put, sixth, 38' 8"; and Higgins, 800 meters, sixth, 2:06.24.

The Red Raiders travel to Westfield State University next Saturday morning to compete in the Central/West State Qualifier with that meet scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Red Raiders Finish 11th In Class A

May 17, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to an eleventh place finish at the 53rd Annual Fred Warren District E, Class A Meet, Saturday afternoon at Lunenburg High School.

Fitchburg was led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez, who captured the shot put with a throw of 52' 5.5". Also scoring in the top six were: Drew DiGeronimo, javelin, second, 172' 8", and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, sixth, 1:03.38; Marcos Diaz, javelin, third, 157' 7"; and Jose Marrero, discus, fifth, 122' 1".

The Red Raiders travel to Shrewsbury Saturday morning to compete in the Mid-Wach A Championship with that meet scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Red Raiders End Dual Meet Season With Victory Over Leominster

May 13, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team defeated arch-rival Leominster in it's final dual meet of the season, 81 to 64, Tuesday afternoon at Crocker Field.

Once again Fitchburg was led by Drew DiGeronimo, who captured the pole vault, 9' 6", javelin, 170', and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:03.0. Josh Higgins and Jason Bugarin captured two events each, as Higgins won the 400 meters in 56.1, and 800 meters in 2:13,1, while Bugarin picked up first place performances in the two mile, 10:50.1, and the mile in 5:01.1. Also finishing first were: Leo Ramirez, shot put, 53' 5.75"; Alex Romero, high jump, 5' 4"; and the 400 meter relay team comprised of Marcos Diaz, Romero, A.J. Williams, and Greg Santiago, 49.0.

Finishing second were: Gabriel Reyes-Caraballo, pole vault, 7'; Michael Bourque, shot put, 38' 7.75"; Carlos Rodriguez-Baez, high jump, 5' 4"; Higgins, long jump, 17' 9"; Santiago, 100 meters, 12.2, and triple jump, 34' 9"; Jose Marrero, discus, 101' 7"; Diaz, javelin, 142' 7", and 200 meters, 24.5. Completing the scoring with third place performances were: Hanoch Boddie, high jump, 4' 10", and long jump, 17' 2"; Bugarin and Connor Dufour, tie, pole vault, 6'; and Reyes-Caraballo, 200 meters, 29.9.

The Red Raiders travel to Lunenburg Saturday afternoon to compete in the District Class A Championships with that meet scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.


Wachusett Regional Defeats Red Raiders
DiGeronimo Breaks School Record In The 400 Hurdles

May 6, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team was defeated by Wachusett Regional, 98 to 46, Tuesday afternoon in Holden.

Fitchburg was led by Drew DiGeronimo, who captured the pole vault, 9'; javelin, 165' 7"; and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:00.8. DiGeronimo's time in the 400 intermediate hurdles broke the school record set in 2012. Also finishing first were: Jose Marrero, discus, 125' 9"; Alex Romero, high jump, 5' 6"; and Leo Ramirez, shot put, 49' 11.25".

Finishing second were: Michael Bourque, discus, 111' 7"; Marcos Diaz, javelin, 142' 11"; Hanoch Boddie, 400 meters, 58.4; and Jason Bugarin, two mile, 10:21.0. Completing the scoring with third place performances were: Greg Santiago, 100 meters, 11.5; Josh Higgins, 800 meters, 2:06.6; Diaz, 200 meters, 25.4; and Bourque, shot put, 38' 10".

The Red Raiders host Leominster next Tuesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Fitchburg Finishes Ninth At The District E, Division I Relays

May 3, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to a ninth place finish at the District E, Division I Relays, held Saturday afternoon at St. John's in Shrewsbury.

Fitchburg was led by the shot put team comprised of Leo Ramirez, Michael Bourque, and Jose Marrero, which finished first with a combined distance of 126' 6.5". Finishing second was the discus team comprised of Michael Bourque, Marrero, and Marc Merchant with a combined distance of 303' 4", while the javelin team comprised of Drew DiGeronimo, Alex Romero, and Jason Bugarin finished third with a combined distance of 397' 6". Completing the scoring for the Red Raiders was the 800 meter relay team comprised of Greg Santiago, Antonio Williams, DiGeronimo, and Josh Higgins, which finished fifth in 1:40.8.

The Red Raiders travel to Wachusett Regional Tuesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Doherty Memorial Edges By Fitchburg

April 29, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team was edged by Doherty Memorial, 68 to 63, Tuesday afternoon at Foley Stadium.

Fitchburg was led by Drew DiGeronimo and Jason Bugarin, who captured two events each. DiGeronimo finished first in the javelin, 147' 3", and 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:07.7, while Bugarin was first in the two mile, 10:45.2, and mile, 5:03.4. Also finishing first were Josh Higgins, 400 meters, 53.5; Alex Romero, high jump, 5' 4"; and Jose Marrero, discus, 105' 2".

Finishing second were: Michael Bourque, shot put, 41' 5", and discus, 99' 8"; Viosnody Presinal, Jr., triple jump, 31' 3"; Bugarin, javelin, 116'; Romero, 110 meter high hurdles, 23.0; and Carlos Rodriguez-Baez, 800 meters, 2:30.5. Completing the scoring with third place performances were: Hanoch Boddie, 400 meters, 58.4; Marrero, shot put, 37' 7"; Rodriguez-Baez, high jump, 5'; Higgins, long jump, 16' 3"; Romero, javelin, 111'; and Antonio Williams, 200 meters, 26.1.

The Red Raiders travel to St. John's Saturday morning to compete in the District E, Division I Relays, with that meet scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m.


Algonquin Regional Too Much For Fitchburg

April 16, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team suffered it's third loss of the season falling to Algonquin Regional, 109 to 36, Wednesday afternoon at Crocker Field.

Fitchburg was led by Michael Bourque, who captured the shot put, 39' 10", and the discus, 110'. Also finishing first was Drew DiGeronimo in the javelin with a throw of 168' 6".

Finishing second were: Jason Bugarin, mile, 4:58.6; Alex Romero, high jump, 5' 6"; Marcos Diaz, javelin, 133' 9"; and Jose Marrero, discus, 106' 5". Completing the scoring with third place performances were Greg Santiago, long jump, 15' 7", and 100 meters, 11.9; Marc Merchant, discus, 104'; Marrero, shot put, 34' 9"; Romero, 110 meter high hurdles. 18.0; Josh Higgins, mile, 5:15.8; Carlos Rodriguez-Baez, 800 meters, 2:33.7; Diaz, 200 meters, 25.1; and Hanoch Boddie, 400 meters, 1:00.8.

The Red Raiders travel to Doherty Memorial on Tuesday, April 29, with that meet scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Outrun By The Patriots

April 9, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team was outrun by the North Middlesex Regional Patriots, 89 to 55, Tuesday afternoon at Crocker Field.

The Red Raiders were once again led by Drew DiGeronimo, who had three first place performances, capturing the javelin, 168', the pole vault, 9' 6", and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:03.2. Also finishing first were Jose Marrero, shot put, 39' 4.5"; Michael Bourque, discus, 115' 7", and Josh Higgins, 400 meters, 54.1.

Finishing second were: Jason Bugarin, pole vault, 9' 6", two mile, 10:47.0, and the 800 meters, 2:13.0; Marcos Diaz, javelin, 147' 5", and 200 meters, 25.7; Bourque, shot put, 38' 1"; and Marrero, discus, 106' 6". Completing the scoring with third place performances were Alex Romero, high jump, 5' 4"; Marc Merchant, discus, 103' 10"; Greg Santiago, 100 meters, 11.9; and Hanoch Boddie, 400 meters, 1:02.0.

Fitchburg hosts Algonquin Regional next Wednesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Drop Opener To Shrewsbury

April 4, 2014 - The 2014 Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team dropped their season opener to the Shrewsbury Colonials, 90 to 52, at Shrewsbury.

The Red Raiders were led by Drew DiGeronimo, who had two first place performances, capturing the javelin, 168' 8", and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:05.2. DiGeronimo also teamed with Viosnody Presinal, Jr., Hanoch Boddie, and Carlos Rodriguez-Baez, to finish first in the 1600 meter relay, 4:24.9. Also finishing first were Jose Marrero, discus, 98' 8", and Josh Higgins, 800 meters, 2:02.9.

Finishing second were: Greg Santiago, 100 meters, 12.5, and 200 meters, 26.5; DiGeronimo, pole vault, 9'; Alex Romero, high jump, 5' 2"; Marcos Diaz, javelin, 136'; Jason Bugarin, two mile, 10:43.0; and Marc Merchant, discus, 98' 2". Completing the scoring with third place performances were: Michael Bourque, shot put, 36' 9.5", and discus, 97' 9"; Bugarin, javelin, 106'; Romero, long jump, 16' 7.75"; Diaz, 100 meters, 12.6; and Tanner Hansen, 400 meters, 1:07.5.

Fitchburg hosts North Middlesex Regional next Wednesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.
