Red Raiders Are Crowned Weight Pentathlon Champions
Williams Wins Overall Title

June 6, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team captured first place at the at the 6th Annual Central Massachusetts District E Weight Pentathlon held Monday afternoon at Clinton High School. The meet features the 100 meters, discus, shot put, javelin, and 200 meters.

The Red Raiders team comprised of seniors Antonio Williams, 2,923 points, Michael Bourque, 2,444 points, and sophomore Enrico Colon, 2,062 points, combined for a school record team total of 7,429 points to capture the title. Williams total broke the school record for points scored overall, and points scored by a senior. Sophomore Eli Ashmore, who competed as in individual, finished third overall, scoring 2,580 points, while breaking the pentathlon record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.63. Sophomore Kyle Koutonen was the fifth competitor for the Red Raiders finishing thirty-eighth with a total of 1,337 points.


Red Raiders Finish Thirteenth In Division 1 Central/West Qualifier
Figueroa Breaks 200 Meter Record Again

May 28, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to a thirteenth place finish at the Division 1 Central/West State Qualfier held Saturday afternoon at Westfield State University.

The Red Raiders were led by the record breaking performance of Angel Figueroa, who broke his own school record in the 200 meters, finishing fourth in 22.17. Finishing in the top eight were: Tyri Hampton, high jump, fifth, 5' 10"; Antonio Williams, shot put, sixth, 46' 1"; and Michael Bourque, discus, eighth, 125' 10". Also representing Fitchburg in the meet were: the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Hampton, Kobe Saddler, Figueroa, and Joshua Higgins, tenth, 3:35.48; season best; Charlie Jackson, triple jump, eleventh, 40' .5", personal best; Bourque, shot put, eleventh, 44' 1"; Higgins, 800 meters, twelfth, 2:03.25"; Williams, discus, fourteenth, 112' 9"; and the 400 meter relay team comprised of Williams, Saddler, Higgins, and Figueroa, fourteenth, 45.44.


Multiple Red Raiders Earn Mid-Wach A All-Star Honors

May 23, 2016 - Multiple Red Raiders earned Mid-Wach A All-Star honors Monday evening at a post-season coaches meeting held at Cristina's Restaurant in Leominster. Earning All-Star honors were: Michael Bourque, Joshua Higgins, Tyri Hampton, Angel Figueroa, Antonio Williams, Eli Ashmore, and Kobe Saddler.

Figueroa Breaks 200 Meter Record

May 21, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to a fourth place finish at the Mid-Wach A League Meet held Saturday morning at Crocker Field.

The Red Raiders were led by Michael Bourque, who captured the shot put, 49' 10", Personal Best, and discus, 127' 8". Also finishing first were: Angel Figueroa, school record, 200 meters, 22.43; Josh Higgins, 800 meters, 2:01.42; Tyri Hampton, high jump, 6', PB; and the 400 meter relay team comprised of Antonio Williams, Eli Ashmore, Kobe Saddler, and Figueroa, 45.05. Finishing in the top six were: Williams, shot put, second, 46' 10", PB, and discus, fifth, 112' 9"; Figueroa, long jump, second, 20' 3.75", PB; Ashmore, 100 meters, fourth, 11.54, PB; the two mile relay team comprised of Anthony Ortwein, Noah Giordano, Jeff Dufour, and Augustin Sanchez, fifth, 9:55.51; Charlie Jackson, triple jump, fifth, 38' 10.75"; and Enrico Colon, shot put, sixth, 38' 8.5". Also representing Fitchburg in the meet were: Saddler, triple jump, seventh, 37' 7.25", and 100 meters, eleventh, 12.15; Colon, discus, eighth, 103' 10", PB; Ben Phaneuf, mile, eighth, 5:01.76; Williams, 400 meter intermediate hurdles, ninth, 105.28; Devin DeLeon, javelin, ninth, 118' 10", PB; Dohnavan LeBlanc, mile, twelfth, 5:09.56; Dylan Thanadabouth, long jump, thirteenth, 14' 5.5", and 400 meter intermediate hurdles, fourteenth, 1:11.79'; Kyle Koutonen, javelin, fourteenth, 108' 5"; and Ortwein, mile, fifteenth, 5:16.85.

Fitchburg travels to Westfield State University next Saturday afternoon to compete in the Division 1 Central/West State Qualifier with the meet scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m.


Red Raiders Finish Eleventh In Class A
Higgins Breaks 800 Meter Record Again

May 14, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team ran to an eleventh place finish at the District E Class A Championship Meet held Saturday afternoon at Lunenburg.

The Red Raiders were led by Angel Figueroa, who finished second in the 200 meters with a personal best 23.24. Josh Higgins was outstanding once again in his specialty, the 800 meters, breaking his own school record to finish third with a time of 1:56.27. Also placing in the top six were: Michael Bourque, discus, fourth, 122' 6", and the shot put, fifth, 48' 1", PB; and the 400 meter relay team comprised of Antonio Williams, Kobe Saddler, Eli Ashmore, and Figueroa, fourth, 45.48. Also representing Fitchburg in the meet were: Williams, discus, seventh, 115' 7", and shot put, eighth, 43' 7"; Tyri Hampton, triple jump, eleventh, 39' 3.5", PB; Enrico Colon, shot put, fourteenth, 40' 1.75", PR, and discus, seventeenth, 97' 3"; Ashmore, 100 meters, fourteenth, 12.16; Saddler, 100 meters, eighteenth, 12.26; Dylan Thanadabouth, long jump, nineteenth, 17' 4.5"; Dohnavan LeBlanc, two mile, twenty-fouth, 11:35.26; Anthony Ortwein, two mile, twenty-fifth, 11:36.14; Ben Phaneuf, mile, twenty-seventh, 5:29.48; and Charlie Jackson, triple jump, no mark.

Fitchburg hosts the Mid-Wach A League Meet this Saturday morning with the meet scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Wachusett Defeats Red Raiders
Higgins Breaks 800 Meter Record

May 10, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team was defeated by Wachusett Regional, 83 to 62, Wednesday afternoon at Wachusett Regional.

The Red Raiders were led by Tyri Hampton and Antonio Williams, who captured two events each. Hampton won the high jump, 5' 8", and the 110 meter high hurdles, 16.6, while Williams won the discus, 120' 11", and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:08.2. Josh Higgins was outstanding in his specialty, the 800 meters, breaking the eleven year old record in that event set by Craig Fiore in 2005, with a time of 1:57.8. Other first place performances were turned in by: Michael Bourque, shot put, 46' 2.5"; Eli Ashmore, 100 meters, 11.5; Angel Figueroa, 400 meters, 52.9; and the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Charlie Jackson, Ashmore, Kobe Saddler, and Figueroa, 3:45.0 Finishing second were: Bourque, discus, 116' 3"; Figueroa, long jump, 18' 3"; Jackson, high jump, 5' 6", and triple jump, 39' 1"; and Williams, shot put, 42' 5". Completing the scoring by finishing third were: Hampton, triple jump, 38' 1"; Devin DeLeon, javelin, 112' 10"; and Ben Phaneuf, 800 meters, 2:12.0.

Fitchburg travels to Lunenburg this Saturday afternoon to compete in the District E Class A Championship Meet scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.


Young Red Raiders Shine At MSTCA Frosh/Soph Meet
Figueroa Named Most Outstanding Runner

May 7, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field freshmen/sophomore team turned in many top performances at the MSTCA Frosh/Soph Small School Division Meet held Saturday at Norwell High School.

The Red Raiders were led by Angel Figueroa, who captured the 200 meters in 23.26, and later teamed with Charlie Jackson, Devin DeLeon, and Dohnavan LeBlanc, to finish sixth in the 1600 meter relay in 3:49.13. For his efforts Figueroa was named Most Outstanding Runner. Figueroa also finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 19' 3". Also finishing in the top six were: Eli Ashmore, 100 meters, second, 11.85; Jackson, 400 meters, fourth, 54.26; the 400 meter relay teamcomprised of Dylan Thanadabouth, Kobe Saddler, DeLeon, and Ashmore, fourth, 47.63; and Saddler, triple jump, fifth, 36' 5.5". Completing Fitchburg's representation in the meet were: Enrico Colon, discus, eighth, 101', and shot put, eleventh, 36' 8.75"; Saddler, 100 meters, tenth, 12.24; Jackson, triple jump, thirteenth, 33' 10"; LeBlanc, two mile, fourteenth, 11:18.65; Kyle Koutonen, javelin, fifteenth, 108' 9", and shot put, thirty-fourth, 31' 10.5"; Thanadabouth, long jump, fifteenth, 17' 11", and 400 meter intermediate hurdles, nineteenth, 1:10.27; and Rocco Arciprete, javelin, thirty-first, 87' 5".

Fitchburg travels to Wachusett Regional Tuesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 4:00 p.m.


Blue Devils Overtake Red Raiders

May 4, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team was overtaken by the Leominster Blue Devils, 80 to 65, Wednesday afternoon at Crocker Field.

The Red Raiders were led by Tyri Hampton and Joshua Higgins, who captured two events each. Hampton won the high jump, 5' 6", and the 110 meter high hurdles, 16.8, while Higgins won the two mile, 10:31.0, and the 400 meters, 51.6. Other first place performances were turned in by: Kobe Saddler and Dylan Thanadabouth, who tied in the pole vault, 6'; Michael Bourque, shot put, 46' 11.25"; Ben Phaneuf, mile, 5:05.6; and Angel Figueroa, 200 meters, 23.1. Finishing second were: Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 6"; Antonio Williams, shot put, 44' 10.5"; Bourque, discus, 105' 4"; and Figueroa, 100 meters, 11.6. Completing the scoring by finishing third were: Williams, discus, 96', and 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:06.7; Figueroa, long jump, 19' 3"; Higgins, pole vault, 5'; Enrico Colon, shot put, 39' 3.5"; Kyle Koutonen, javelin, 105' 4"; Anthony Ortwein, two mile, 11:07.3; Bourque, 110 meter high hurdles, 20.5; Jackson, 400 meters, 57.3; and Saddler, 200 meters, 25.0.

The Fitchburg Freshmen/Sophomore track & field athletes travel to Norwell Saturday morning to compete in the MSTCA Frosh/Soph Meet Small School Division scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.


Red Raiders Finished Tenth In District E Division I Relays

April 30, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team competed to a tenth place finish at the District E Division I Relays held Saturday afternoon at St. John's (Shrewsbury).

The Red Raiders were led by the shot put team of Michael Bourque, Antonio Williams, and Enrico Colon, which finished second with a combined distance of 125' 1.75", and the 800 meter relay team comprised of Eli Ashmore, Kobe Saddler, Charlie Jackson, and Angel Figueroa, which also finished second with a time of 1:34.38. Also finishing in the top six were: the 400 meter relay team comprised of Williams, Saddler, Ashmore, and Figueroa, fourth, 45.08; the discus team comprised of Bourque, Williams, and Colon, fifth, 312' 9"; and the triple jump team comprised of Saddler, Dylan Thanadabouth, and Jackson, fifth, 108' 10.75". The long jump team comprised of Saddler, Figueroa, and Thanadabouth combined for 52' 1" to finish seventh.

Fitchburg hosts arch-rival Leominster this Wednesday afternoon with that meet scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Shrewsbury Colonials Defeat Red Raiders

April 27, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team was defeated by the Shrewsbury Colonials, 90 to 55, Wednesday afternoon at Crocker Field.

Collecting first place performances for the Red Raiders were: Michael Bourque, shot put, 46' 11.25"; Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 6"; Antonio Williams, discus, 125' 4"; Angel Figueroa, 100 meters, 11.3; Josh Higgins, 400 meters, 50.3; and the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Ben Phaneuf, Dohnavan LeBlanc, Anthony Ortwein, and Figueroa, 3:56.5. Finishing second were: Williams, shot put, 44' 1.5", and 400 intermediate hurdles, 1:10.7; Ortwein, two mile, 11:13.0; Bourque, discus, 122' 7"; Jackson, triple jump, 39' 3"; and Higgins, 200 meters, 23.8. Completing the scoring by finishing third were: Enrico Colon, shot put, 39' 1.25", and discus, 96' 6"; Tyri Hampton, 110 meter high hurdles, 17.0, and triple jump, 38' 8"; Eli Ashmore, 100 meters, 11.7; Dylan Thanadabouth, long jump, 17' 6"; and Phaneuf, mile, 5:13.0.

Red Raiders Defeat Shepherd Hill Regional For First Win Of The Season
Jackson Wins Three Events

April 20, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team defeated Shepherd Hill Regional, 85 to 60, Wednesday morning, for their first win of the season at the Ram's home track.

The Red Raiders were led by Charlie Jackson, who captured three events: the high jump, 5' 6", triple jump, 37' 9.5", and the 400 meters, 54.1. Michael Bourque was a double winner capturing the shot put, 45' 11.5", and discus, 118' 8". Also finishing first were: Eli Ashmore, 200 meters, 24.0; Joshua Higgins, 800, 2:00.2; the 400 meter relay team comprised of Stefan Vante, Kobe Saddler, Ashmore, and Tyri Hampton, 46.4; the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Ben Phaneuf, Dohnavan LeBlanc, Anthony Ortwein, and Higgins, 4:00.8; and Thanadabouth, long jump, 18' 3". Finishing second were: Hampton, high jump, 5' 2", and 110 meter high hurdles, 18.4; A.J. Williams, shot put, 42' 8", and discus, 117' 9"; Thanadabouth, 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 1:10.2; LeBlanc, two mile, 11:08.8; and Saddler, 100 meters, 12.0. Completing the scoring by finishing third were: Thandabouth, triple jump, 36' 6.5"; Enrico Colon, discus, 85' 10"; Phaneuf, mile, 5:05.7; Williams, 100 meters, 12.4; and Vante, 200 meters, 26.2.

Red Raiders Defeated By Algonquin Regional In Season Opener

April 13, 2016 - The Fitchburg High School boys' outdoor track & field team was defeated by Algonquin Regional, 90 to 55, Wednesday afternoon at the Tomahawks' track.

The Red Raiders were led by Michael Bourque, who captured the shot put, 46' .5", and discus, 120'. Also finishing first were: Eli Ashmore, 100 meters, 11.9; Joshua Higgins, mile, 4:46.3; Angel Figueroa, 200 meters, 23.4; the 400 meter relay team comprised of Dylan Thanadabouth, Kobe Saddler, Ashmore, and Figueroa, 46.5; and the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Tyri Hampton, Dohnavan LeBlanc, Charlie Jackson, and Higgins, 3:50.3. Finishing second were: Jackson, triple jump, 38' 2"; Anthony Ortwein, two mile, 11:24.2; Antonio Williams, shot put, 44' 6.5", and Enrico Colon, discus, 97' 5".
