2006 Worcester Telegram & Gazette All-Stars Announced
Malouin Selected To The Cross Country Team

December 18, 2006 - Fitchburg High School senior Garrett Malouin was recently selected to the 2006 Worcester Telegram & Gazette All-Star Cross Country team for his seventh place performance in the MIAA Central Massachusetts Cross Country Division I Championship held at the Gardner Golf Course on November 11.


Malouin Concludes Cross Country Career For Fitchburg High School

November 18, 2006 - Fitchburg High Scool senior Garrett Malouin concluded a his cross country career for the Red Raiders, finishing 55th overall Saturday afternoon at the Division I State Cross Country Championship held at Northfield Mountain. Malouin's time of 17:19 over the 5k course improved his previous best on at this distance by 14 seconds, was a personal best at that distance, and was 31 positions better than his performance in last year's state meet.


2006 Cross Country Luncheon

November 11, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men's cross country team celebrated the conclusion of the team portion of the 2006 cross country season Saturday afternoon at a luncheon reception held at Slattery’s Restaurant.

Receiving recognition for their efforts during the season were senior Garrett Malouin, who received the Most Valuable Runner; and the annual Mark Gionet Award for the first Fitchburg High School runner versus Leominster; the Most Improved Runner, went to sophomore Brian Fitzgibbons, who improved his personal record on the 2.9 mile Coggshall course from 24:17 to 22:01, a cumulative improvement of 2:16 in only one season; the Coach's Award went to senior Adam Boudreau for his dedication and commitment to the team; and the Freshman Award, which went to Chris Carbone.

These athletes, along with seniors Devan Glenny, Bradley Malouin, Matt Reid, Josh Shea, and German Valdez; sophomores Cameron Trodello and Peter Adams; and freshmen Tyler Boudreau, Troy Godin, and Ryan Martin, all received certificates of recognition for their hard work and dedication to Fitchburg High School cross country.

Coach Woods would like to personally congratulate his team, and everyone else who contributed to the team's success throughout the 2006 season.


Red Raiders Finish Eighteenth At District E, Division I Championships
Malouin Qualifies For State Championship

November 11, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team ran to an eighteenth place finish at the District E, Division I Cross Country Championships held Saturday morning at the Gardner Golf Course.

Leading the way for Fitchburg over the 2.9 mile course was senior Garrett Malouin, who finished seventh in 15:09.2. Senior Devan Glenny, forty-third, 16:20.0; freshman Chris Carbone, one-hundred and twentieth, 18:16.7; seniors Adam Boudreau, one-hundred and twenty-eighth, 18:37.5; and Bradley Malouin, one-hundred and thirty-ninth, 18:54.9; sophomore, Peter Adams, one-hundred and forty-sixth, 19:06.4; and senior German Valdez, one-hundred and fifty-two, 19:53.6, combined for the team score in the meet.

Malouin's performance in the meet qualified him for next Saturday's State Championship to be held at Northfield Mountain, with the men's Division I race scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.


Red Raiders Finish Up Dual Meet Season

November 1, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School boys’ cross country team completed their dual meet season, losing a heartbreaking meet to Oakmont Regional, 26-29, Wednesday afternoon at Coggshall Park.

Leading the way for the Red Raiders over the 2.9 mile course was Garrett Malouin, who finished first in 16:04. Completing the scoring for Fitchburg were Devan Glenny, fifth, 17:04; Chris Carbone, sixth, 18:04; Adam Boudreau, seventh, 18:14; and Brad Malouin, tenth, 18:56.

Also running well for Fitchburg were Peter Adams, fourteenth, 19:48; Ryan Martin, fifthteenth, 20:01; Tyler Boudreau, sixteenth, 20:07; Matt Reid, seventeenth, 20:09; German Valdez, eighteenth, 20:22; Cameron Trodello, nineteenth, 20:52; Brian Fitzgibbons, twentieth, 22:01; Troy Godin, twenty-first, 23:09; and Josh Shea, twenty-third, 23:10.

The Red Raiders travel to the Gardner Golf Course to compete in the District Championship on Saturday, November 11, with the Division I race scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m.


Red Raiders finish Seventh at Mid-Wach A Championships

October 30, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team ran to a seventh place finish Monday afternoon at the Mid-Wach A Championship Meet held at Ghiloni Park in Marlborough. Their place in the meet earned them a sixth place tie with Milford in the final overall league standings.

Leading the way for Fitchburg in the Varsity A Race over the 5k course was senior Garrett Malouin, who finished second in 17:30.6. Seniors Devan Glenny, twenty-first, 19:01.0; Bradley Malouin, forty-second, 21:05.6; Adam Boudreau, forty-fourth, 21:33.8; and German Valdez, forty-seventh, 22:55.3, comprised the rest of the varsity team. Garrett Malouin earned Mid-Wach A All-Star honors for his performance in the meet.

Also representing Fitchburg in the All-Class Junior Varsity Race were sophomore Cameron Trodello, sixty-eighth, 22:59.8; freshmen Tyler Boudreau, eightieth; 23:53.5, and Troy Godin, eighty-first, 24:01.9; junior Brian Fitzgibbons, eighty-sixth, 24:30.5; and senior Josh Shea, ninety-second, 25:09.4.

The Red Raiders host Oakmont Regional this Wednesday afternoon with the meet scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Finish Thirteenth At Wachusett Invitational

October 21, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team ran to a thirteenth place finish at the 50th Annual Wachusett Invitational Cross Country Championships held Saturday afternoon at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden.

In the Class A 2.4 mile Varsity Race the Red Raiders were led by Garrett Malouin, who finished seventh, 12:48.4. Bradley Malouin, seventieth, 15:21.7; German Valdez, seventy-ninth, 15:49.5; Adam Boudreau, eightieth, 15:54.3; and Matt Reid, eighty-fifth, 16:38.6; completed the team scoring for Fitchburg. In the Junior Varsity Race Josh Shea finished ninty-fifth in 18:37.0; while in the All-Freshmen Race Chris Carbone was thirty-third in 15:28.5, Ryan Martin was forty-fourth in 15:50.1, and Tyler Boudreau finished ninety-fourth in 18:28.9.

The Red Raiders travel to Marlboro’s Ghiloni Park this Monday afternoon to compete in the Mid-Wach A Cross Country Championships, with the boys’ varsity race scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Blue Devils Outrun Red Raiders

October 17, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team were defeated by arch-rival Leominster, 21-40, on the Blue Devils’ 2.9 mile home course Tuesday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Red Raiders was Garrett Malouin, who finished first in 15:37. Teammates Chris Carbone, sixth, 16:59; Adam Boudreau, ninth, 18:18; Brad Malouin, tenth, 18:19; and German Valdez, fourteenth, 19:17, rounded out the top five for Fitchburg.

Also running well were Ryan Martin, eighteenth, 20:00; Cameron Trodello, nineteenth, 20:11; Tyler Boudreau, twenty-first, 20:50; Matt Reid, twenty-second, 21:55; ; Brian Fitzgibbons, twenty-third, 23:06; Josh Shea, twentieth-fourth, 23:20; and Troy Godin, twenty-fifth, 28:30.

Fitchburg travels to Wachusett Regional Saturday afternoon to compete in the 49th Annual Wachusett Invitational with the first race scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m.


Red Raiders Perform Well In McIntyre Invitational

October 14, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men's cross country team ran to a 21st place finish at the 15th Annual Bob McIntyre Cross Country Bay State Invitational Meet held Saturday morning at Northfield Mountain. In the 5k Varsity Division I race the team of Garrett Malouin, 24th, 17:46; Adam Boudreau, 129th, 21:56; Peter Adams, 132nd, 22:04; Brad Malouin, 135th, 23:06; Cameron Trodello, 136th, 23:10; and Matt Reid, 139th, 23:10, combined for the team score.

In the 5k Junior Varsity Division I race Brian Fitzgibbons finished 123rd, 25:08; and Josh Shea, 128th, 26:48; while in the 3k Freshmen Division I race, Chris Carbone ran an outstanding race, finishing 17th overall in 12:35; while teammates Tyler Boudreau, 14:47; Ryan Martin, 14:47; and Troy Godin, 17:07, finished 105th, 106th, and 139th, respectiely.

The Red Raiders travel to Leominster this Tuesday afternoon with that race scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.


Red Raiders Defeated By North Middlesex

October 12, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team suffered their fourth loss of the season, losing to the North Middlesex Patriots, 21-40, Thursday afternoon at Coggshall Park.

Leading the way for the Red Raiders was Garrett Malouin, who finished second in 16:16. Teammates Chris Carbone, fifth, 17:35; Adam Boudreau, tenth, 18:47; Brad Malouin, thirteenth, 19:41; and German Valdez, fifteenth, 20:02, rounded out the top five for Fitchburg.

Also running well were Ryan Martin, sixteenth, 20:22; Tyler Boudreau, seventeenth, 20:35; Cameron Trodello, eighteenth, 20:36; Matt Reid, nineteenth, 23:03; Josh Shea, twentieth, 23:58; Brian Fitzgibbons, twenty-second, 24:40; and Troy Godin, twenty-fourth, 26:34.

Fitchburg travels to Northfield Mountain this Saturday morning to compete in the Bay State Invitational with the first race scheduled to get underway at 9:00 a.m.


Wachusett Regional Defeats Red Raiders

October 5, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team saw their record drop to 1-3, as they were defeated by Wachusett Regional, 25-34, Thursday afternoon at Coggshall Park.

Finishing first, and third, in the race were Garrett Malouin, 15:59, and Devan Glenny, 16:15. Finishing seventh was Chris Carbone, 17:29, while teammates Peter Adams, thirteenth, 17:47, and Adam Boudreau, fourteenth, 18:37, rounded out the top five for Fitchburg.

Also running well for the Red Raiders were Ryan Martin, nineteenth, 19:15; German Valdez, twenty-fifth, 20:09; Cameron Trodello, twenty-seventh, 20:28; Brad Malouin, twenty-eighth, 20:39; Matt Reid, thirtieth, 22:19; Brian Fitzgibbons, thirty-first, 22:43; Josh Shea, thirty-third, 23:52; and Troy Godin, thirty-fourth, 27:17

The Red Raiders host North Middlesex Regional next Thursday afternoon with that race scheduled to get underway at 4:00 p.m.


Red Raiders Edge Milford

September 21, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team earned their first win of the season yesterday afternoon, defeating Milford, 26-31, on the Scarlet Hawks' 2.75 mile course.

Garrett Malouin and Devan Glenny went first, 15:12, and second, 15:13, respectively. Chris Carbone was fifth, 16:15, and Peter Adams was sixth, 16:21. Clinching the win was Adam Boudreau, who finished fourteenth, 17:36, and German Valdez, who finished, fifteenth, 17:58.

Also running well were Brad Malouin, seventeenth, 18:09; Ryan Martin, twentieth, 18:18; Eric Faucher, twenty-second, 18:35; Cameron Trodello, twenty-third, 18:48; Tyler Boudreau, twenty-sixth, 19:36; Matt Reid, twenty-ninth, 19:41; Brian Fitzgibbons, thirtieth, 20:26; Josh Shea, thirty-first, 20:55; and Troy Godin, thirty-third, 22:53.

The Red Raiders' race Algonquin Regional next Thursday in Northboro.


Shrewsbury Outruns Red Raiders

September 18, 2006 - The Fitchburg High School men’s cross country team lost their opening dual meet to Shrewsbury, 25-35, Monday afternoon at Coggshall Park.

Finishing first and second in the race were Garrett Malouin, 16:22, and Devan Glenny, 16:23. Finishing eighth was Chris Carbone, 17:52, while teammates Peter Adams, thirteenth, 18:47, and Adam Boudreau, nineteenth, 19:39, rounded out the top five for Fitchburg.

Also running well for the Red Raiders were German Valdez, twenty-third, 20:27; Brad Malouin, twenty-fourth, 20:29; Ryan Martin, twenty-sixth, 20:44; Eric Faucher, twenty-eighth, 20:58; Cameron Trodello, thirtieth, 21:07; Tyler Boudreau, thirty-sixth; Matt Reid, thirty-eighth, 22:01; Brian Fitzgibbons, forty-first, 24:17; and Josh Shea, forty-fifth, 27:05.

The Red Raiders travel to Milford this coming Thursday afternoon with that race scheduled to get underway at 4:00 p.m.
